After the economic havoc and disaster caused by outrageous lending, the government is deceding to get in to the lending business, not in the form of bail out money either. Some politicians are in favor of making the U.S. Government a direct lender of student loans. Until recent student loan reforms, students had a choice on who they wanted to have service their Federal student loans. Maybe in the future there will a single check-yes if you want a Federal student loan from the government. That would be an easy thing to do if the FAFSA and SAR were directing through the same pipeline the Loan Request goes through. If and-or when the government lends to consumers, at what point is a National Bank created. It has been tried in the past and it failed. Our Senators need to think about how many more jobs will be lost from the remaining student loan companies. The American pie .. just how big is it?
